The last five years have been a mix of working on everything from feature film motion capture work, to a winter filming documentary series television in one of the coldest places on Earth.

The constant, however, has been producing short documentary films in various parts of the world.  Beginning in 2011 with the CBT Vietnam project, I've worked with several organizations, foundations, and universities to share their stories & the stories of the people on ground who are directly affected.

With an emphasis on strong characters, bold visuals, and authenticity and fairness to the subject matter, these films have all been used to help spread awareness and raise funds to continue the important work that they're doing.  

The chance to see the world and share compelling stories with others is why I do what I do.  It makes the long hours, jet lag, and sleep deprivation worth it.

It all started with a trip to Sapa, Vietnam in 2011.  With 72hrs notice, I jumped on a plane with a team of tourism professionals and student volunteers to document the affects tourism is having on the ethnic minorities in the region, and to deliver training to try to prevent culture loss.

My involvement in the project spanned five years of work in the villages of Ta Phin and Lao Chai, where the Red Dao and Black Hmong ethnic minority groups call home.  Sharing these villagers' unique stories to the world remains a highlight for me not just professionally, but it also opened up the world to me and travel bug was set.

Eyesight International (Canada) is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating blindness and bringing self-sustaining eye care to rural communities in the developing world.

I had the opportunity to travel to Hyderabad, India to film the work that Eyesight International is doing at the country's premier eye-care facility, the LV Prasad Eye Institute.  The work being done by the physicians at this hospital are ground-breaking, and countless lives have been changed in the process.  See for yourself.  

In the summer of 2016, I joined with Wild Asia to produce a series of videos showcasing responsible, sustainable tourism in practice. We filmed at El Nido Resorts in the Philippines and for The Soneva Group in the Maldives; with Friends International and PEPY Empowering Youth in Cambodia and for Andaman Discoveries in Thailand. In addition, I had a chance to rework and re-edit a new video for CBT Vietnam.

Six of the videos were released earlier in the month at ITB Asia 2016 in Singapore. For background between 2006 – 2016, Wild Asia engaged with hundreds of inspirational tourism businesses, initiatives, and practitioners through their annual Responsible Tourism Awards. In 2016, to celebrate the 10th edition, Wild Asia reconnected with past Awardees and produced a series of videos and new report on replicable best practices with the tourism industry.

Thanks to all the recipients for hosting us. It was a really eye-opening project to be a part of and we met a lot of wonderful people in the process.

On Oct 7th, 2014, Cambodia's first full-scale Neuroscience Centre at Calmette Hospital was officially inaugurated.  The ceremony was presided by both His Majesty, King Norodom Sihamoni and His Excellency, Prime Minister Hun Sen.

La Chaïne de l'Espoir supports developing countries around the world such as Cambodia with medical training and equipment.  In Phnom Penh, I had the opportunity to document the NGO's progress as it makes ground-breaking leaps in the country's future of neurosurgical care.

Footprint Vietnam Travel

In the spring of 2012, I directed and produced five videos for Footprint Vietnam Travel.  They are a premium tour operator in Hanoi, specializing in responsible, sustainable tourism where all players and stakeholders can benefit.

Capilano University 

I've created videos for Capilano University for multiple campaigns. To the left you'll see videos following three students in very different programs: Musical Theatre, Liberal Sciences and Business Management and we followed them around to step into their shoes.

And below are two five-part short films showcasing students, faculty, and alumni of the Outdoor Recreation & Tourism Management degree programs, respectively.  Filmed around North Vancouver and Deep Cove.

Red Dream Project | Le Konsphin  

Having spent a lot of time in the Sapa Region of Vietnam, I met Viviana Lopes, founder of the Red Dream Project, a community house in Ta Phin village where Red Dao villagers can grow organic vegetables and hold tribal meetings.

Viviana also employs local women in Ta Phin to produce fabric used to create high-end handbags and footwear for her fashion line, Le Konsphin. With a portion of the profits going back to the village, it's a great initiative, and in 2015 I travelled to Madrid, Spain to film with Viviana and actress, Cayetana Cabezas.  

Nufloors  

Working with director, John Durrant and Backlot Films in 2010, I worked as cinematographer and editor for two separate ad spots and as a motion graphics artist for a third.  Created within the restrictions of a low budget, the ad spots continue to air on television and have played a strong role in Nufloors' rise as a popular flooring distributer.
